Hope Farm, Littlehampton

Before  After

Littlehampton nestles at the foot of the South Downs and the mouth of the picturesque River Arun. Its award winning, safe, clean, sandy beaches and record sunshine levels afforded it the title of the "Children’s Paradise" making it the ideal family destination.

On the 1st of June 2009 Skills in Partnership was invited by HOMElink and Peter Chapman (founder of Shekinah Mission) to visit a possible new project in Littlehampton. Where? Well somewhere between London and Southampton. I couldn’t help but think it was once hoped to be called Middlehampton but it stayed too little and it’s not quite between the North and South.

Littlehampton is a very beautiful, quiet, friendly picturesque town, one of those hidden secrets of the UK.

If you’re not looking for the signs of homelessness or vulnerable people you would be forgiven for thinking homelessness, connected problems and the deprivation must be in the bigger cities just down the road.

HOMElink is a charitable organisation supported by the churches of Littlehampton, West Sussex, which aims to assist single homeless people in the Arun area to secure accommodation. You might think that homelessness is confined to the big towns and cities, but this is not so. The problem is just as prevalent even in this charming sea-side town on the south coast of England. HOMElink guarantees the deposit required by landlords and assists the clients to budget and save for their own deposit.

The HOPE COMMUNITY FARM development project saw a team from Skills In Partnership arrive in the Summer of 2009 for two weeks that changed lives.
